Email: [not yet published: the Grievance Officer's email address]. The Grievance Officer is a person resident in India, appointed under rule 3(2) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 ("the 2021 Rules"), and is also the person to write to about personal data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Anything on the site, and anything the site has done. For example: a line that is wrong; a post that misstates what you said; a quotation attributed to the wrong person; your personal details or your picture; a member's post that breaks the rules; your own post or account having been held, removed or closed; use of your photograph, video or writing; and how your personal data has been used.
Your name and how to reach you; the address of the page and the line, picture or post concerned; what is wrong with it and what you want done; and, where it helps, the source that shows it. If you are complaining for someone else, say on what authority. For a copyright notice see the Copyright page.
The Grievance Officer, a person, reads every complaint and acknowledges it by email within 24 hours of receiving it. Nothing is sent automatically.
We decide it and tell you the outcome, with reasons, within 7 days.
A request to remove content that the Terms of use forbid is acted on within 36 hours.
A complaint by a person, or on a person's behalf, that content shows them in a state of nudity or in a sexual act, exposes their private parts, or impersonates them, including with a morphed or AI-made image, is acted on within 2 hours: the content is taken out of view first and looked at afterwards.
A lawful order of a court, or a notice from the appropriate government or its authorised agency, is acted on within 3 hours of receipt, or within any shorter time the order sets.
A correction request from the person a post is about is looked at before any other complaint. Where the post is wrong it is corrected or removed and you are told which.
While a complaint about a post is being decided we may take the post out of public view.
You may appeal against the Grievance Officer's decision, or the absence of one, to the Grievance Appellate Committee set up by the Central Government under rule 3A of the 2021 Rules, within 30 days, at gac.gov.in.
For a complaint about personal data you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India after you have written to us.
Nothing here takes away your right to go to a court or to any other authority.
Courts, the Election Commission of India, the police and government agencies should send orders and requests to the Grievance Officer at the email address above, with the order attached. The Grievance Officer keeps a record of each order, when it was received and when it was carried out.
